- Go to the SASSA online portal or https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status
- Enter your 13-digit South African ID number
- Enter the cell phone number you used when applying for the grant
- Click on “Submit” and your application status will display on the screen
- The status will show the progress of your application, whether it is pending, approved, declined, or any other status
- Below the status, an explanation is provided about what each status means and what you need to do
- If your status is pending or declined, log in to your account and update any incorrect details or submit any required documents
- For approved applications, regularly check payment dates and ensure your banking details are correct
- You can also view past statuses by selecting a previous month from the drop-down menu

You can always send a text message through any mobile phone. Messaging apps are available in every mobile phone whether is a keypad or android. You can follow the steps given below to check your SRD Payment status by SMS,
- Open Messages app on your mobile phone
- Enter the text “SASSA (ID Number)”. Here the ID Number is your valid South African ID. For example, “SASSA 8608802039”
- Send this Message to 082 046 8553
- You will receive your SASSA Payment status in reply after a while

Alternatively, you can use the Moya app available for iOS and Android devices:

The old age grant supports men and women over 60 years old with no other income source. Applicants cannot reside in a state institution and must pass a means test. The grant amount is either R2,190 or R2,210 per month, depending on the beneficiary’s age.

3. Disability Grant
The disability grant provides income support to people between 18-59 years old with a mental or physical disability preventing employment for over 6 months. A medical assessment confirms disability status. The monthly amount is up to R2,190 on a sliding scale.

4. War Veteran’s Grant
Veterans who fought in World War 2 or the Korean War and are over 60 years or disabled can apply for this grant. Recipients cannot live in a state institution or receive other grants, and must pass a means test. The monthly grant is R2,210.

5. Child Support Grant
This grant assists parents/primary caregivers struggling to provide for children under 18 years. Applicants must be South African residents and the biological parent or primary caregiver. The grant is R530 per month, plus a R260 top-up, totaling R790.

6. Foster Child Grant
The foster child grant supports children formally placed in foster care by court order until age 18. The monthly grant of R1,190 is paid to the assigned foster parent to help cover costs.

7. Care Dependency Grant
This grant is for caregivers of children under 18 years with severe permanent mental/physical disabilities requiring full-time care at home. Applicants must submit medical proof and cannot have the child in state institutional care. The monthly grant is R2,190.

After that you will have to enter your new Phone Number and then receive an OTP on that Phone Number for verification. How much is the SASSA Child Support Grant in 2024?
From October 2024, the SASSA Child Support Grant is R530 per month. There is also an additional Child Support Grant Top-Up of R780 available.

From October 2024, the SRD Grant amount is R370 per month which was previously R350.
How to change SASSA banking details?
To change your SASSA banking details, access the SASSA services website at https://services.sassa.gov.za and select the “Bank Details Change” option. You’ll need to provide your ID number and specify your grant type. The process requires you to upload your ID copy, a recent bank confirmation letter or statement (not older than 3 months), and proof of residence. If you prefer in-person service, visit any SASSA office with your original ID and banking documents. A SASSA official will assist you in completing the bank details change form. The verification and updating process usually takes 3-5 working days.
How to submit SASSA Appeal if grant is rejected?
